# Governance / DAO

BIM is a fully decentralized project and ecosystem, governed by a decentralized autonomous organization. This means that BIM token holders have the opportunity to vote on governance proposals put forward by the BIM team, giving them decision-making power over the future of the protocol.

[Governance Forum](https://governance.bim.finance/) The proposal process begins with an idea introduced to the BIM Governance Forum. This is where initial discussions take place and feedback is gathered. The community helps refine the proposal before moving to the next stage.

Take a look at the BIM Protocol [Snapshot](https://snapshot.org/#/daobim.eth) page to see previous proposals, votes and results: [https://snapshot.org/#/daobim.eth ](https://snapshot.org/#/daobim.eth)

Each proposal begins with a formal governance vote where BIM holders can cast their votes.

How do I vote?

To vote, you must hold BIMs, which can simply be held in your portfolio or deposited in the staking. You do not need to withdraw your stake to vote. Voting power is directly based on the number of BIMs each voter holds.

To submit your vote, simply go to our [Snapshot page](https://snapshot.org/#/daobim.eth), connect your wallet to Snapshot and go to an open proposition you wish to vote for.

There you will find an interface allowing you to 'vote' by selecting your preferred option(s) and clicking 'Vote'. You will then be asked to sign a transaction via your portfolio to officially submit your vote.
